IUI...check.

Well we had the IUI this morning. Mark's 'sample' was great with a good count and motility. I got the brunette nurse who has the habit of try to poke holes through my uterus with the catheter and today was no different. I was hoping for the blond nurse. The IUI she did was virtually painless. I would think that would help because if the uterus is contracting, eggs can't implant (the whole premise of the IUD shaking up the uterus for contraception). Oh well, hopefully my uterus settles down before there is any egg there. I had a little spotting, but it has already gone away. Like always, keep us in your prayers. We really need them!

CD 12 Ultrasound

Well, to my surprise my follicles were already large at the CD12 ultrasound (cycle day 12). I had ten total, but four that were of a decent size: 17.5mm, 15mm, 14.5mm and 14mm. I would have waited a day to see how they grew, but the RE was concerned that I would start ovulating on my own again like I did last month. They had me trigger last night (my ultrasound was yesterday) and we'll have the IUI tomorrow morning. My follies had a good 14 hours to grow after the ultrasound and they can grow up to 2mm a day. I should have two really good follies and the other two are definitely viable.

On another note, Mark and I booked a trip to Cancun for December 12-19. The pregnancy test is December 10, so we'll find out if it worked. If it did, we can celebrate on vacation. If it didn't, I can drown my sorrows. We decided to take next cycle off of fertility treatment. We'll try on our own, of course, but we thought a vacation and a break would do us good. Last cycle hit me hard and I wasn't sure if plowing through these cycles was good for me mentally. So...now I have sunny Mexico to think about! I'm not discounting the possibility of a pregnancy this month, but I'm trying not to get as emotionally invested in it!

Back in the game

After our BFN, we're back in the game. I had my baseline u/s today and I have no cysts. Let's see if we can have better luck this month! We are sticking with the same basic protocol (clomid days 5-9, ovidrel, IUI). I had a good response last month so here' to hoping!

BFN

That is, BIG FAT NEGATIVE. I did not know I could hurt this badly. I've totally confused the nurses and the RE. I've had two 'perfect' cycles...but no pregnancy. We are going to talk over a game plan at my baseline ultrasound which will happen once I get my period. I don't know if I can function today.

Hello, Hello

So, I have no real update. I'm just patiently awaiting next Monday. I'm going to keep myself from POAS (peeing on a stick). I'm feeling superstitious about it. If I can hold of on the stick, I will get my BFP. I'm optimistic because one of my good infertile friends who has been trying to conceive for four years just got her BFP. I felt it was a good omen. Who knows, it is all what I keep as my hope to keep me positive. I'm working on positivity this cycle. I was so negative last cycle, I just don't think it could have been good for everything. We shall see...keep us in your prayers!

Over Stimulation Anyone?

I feel like I have my period and the flu all at once. I could not sleep last night, I had cramps and lower back pain as well as a headache and my entire body ached like I had the flu. I was really concerned that I got an infection from the IUI (gotta love internet self-diagnosis!). I was reluctant to take anything for it because I didn't know how over-the-counter medicines would interact with all the other drugs I'm on. I posted the question on my infertility bulletin board and one lovely lady was online and had had the same problem. She said Tylenol was OK. Thank goodness I had Tylenol pm, it knocked me out in a matter of fifteen minutes! I'm now suffering through the day, so I made a call to my RE (reproductive endocrinologist). They said it is hyper stimulation of the ovaries, caused by my trigger shot and my super duper ovaries and all their follies. It's not too big of a deal, I just need to take it easy, use a heating pad and take some Tylenol. Now, I only have Tylenol pm so I'm considering taking that or running to the store. Getting in the car and going to a store sounds like a marathon to me right now....so I don't know. Hopefully this will be worth it and lead to a positive in twelve days! Cautiously optimistic.

Early IUI

Well, it turns out that my body was already starting to ovulate on its own so they pushed my IUI up to this morning. I wasn't surprised that it had started on its own, because Sunday night I felt like something was starting to happen. We covered our bases the 'natural' way on Sunday night and I had the IUI today, so we should be ok. This could also mean that there were more than three follicles. The nurse that did my IUI today said that I could have ovulated a follicle earlier and the other ones would follow when they were ready. She's just hoping we don't get multiples. I'm not worried. I just have this sense that it will be ok. I've always felt that getting pregnant was going to be the hard part, but that once that happened we would be fine. We shall see.

I have a good feeling about this cycle. That isn't to say that I will get the BIG FAT POSITIVE that I want, but I'm much more optimistic this cycle. I just feel like so many things are pointing to success. Who really knows, but I just need all of your positive thoughts and prayers. Thanks so much for the continued support. I know our lack of pregnancy gets to be old news, but it is old news that we suffer with every day. It just helps to know we have people that truly care! Now, we just wait until November 12!
